Frequently Asked Questions
Clear briefings for your off-duty operations. Everything you need to know about BaseLegs layover runs.
With so many major platforms like Strava or Komoot out there, what makes BaseLegs different?
While platforms like Strava or Komoot are great for general tracking, they lack crew-specific context. BaseLegs does not just show a trail; it ensures your route starts and ends directly at your designated layover hotel. We filter out unsafe areas, heavy traffic zones, and poorly lit paths, giving you a ready-to-run “Route Briefing” so you don’t waste precious rest time planning.
What does 'curated running routes' actually mean?
Curated means every single route in our directory has been tested, verified, and approved by active pilots or cabin crew members. They contain critical crew factors: pavement quality, local traffic levels, safety after sunset, and proximity to major crew hotels. It’s a running briefing tailored specifically to flight deck and cabin standards.
Why are so many running routes starting at Marriott hotels? Are you getting paid for that?
No, we are completely independent and do not receive any payouts from hotel chains. Marriott, Hilton, and Radisson are simply among the most frequently used crew hotels worldwide. Since our mission is to provide routes starting straight from your hotel lobby, these properties naturally appear most often in our directory.
How can I contribute to BaseLegs?
Just landed a great track? We love community input! Navigate to our “Become a Contributor” page and fill out the route submission form. Once our team checks the layout, safety parameters, and hotel proximity, your route will be added to the directory to help your colleagues stay fit on their next layover.
I’d like to contribute a route to BaseLegs, but the form asks for a GPX file. I don’t have one, though. What to do?
No problem! You can easily export a GPX file from almost any running app (like Garmin Connect, Strava, or Apple Health) after your run. If you are stuck, simply send us a message via our contact email with the hotel name and a brief description or screenshot of your path, and our team will convert it into a standardized GPX track for you.
Still have questions?
